Our Phylosophy:

The philosophy of Regina Caeli College of Nursing Sciences, Awka is derived from philosophy of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria which takes cognizance of the importance of preservation of human dignity, integrity and individualizing such services in the philosophy above are based on the following:

  1. Man is a biological, spiritual, social and psychological individual unit whose needs are an inherent part of his nature and therefore is affected by factors within his environment.
  2. Health is a changing bio-psycho-social and spiritual level of wellness, which the client/patient is assisted to maintain through the utilization of the Nursing process.
  3. Health care with emphasis on primary healthcare is fundamentally related to the availability, accessibility and affordability of both health and socio-economic resources.
  4. The client is capable of reasoning and possesses basic ideas, beliefs and values which guide his/her actions. He / she is an active partner in the Nursing care process and participates in decision-making regarding his /her care and environment.
  5. The Nurse as a human being exists and shares the same nature and basic human needs as the client/patient.
BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

Our Education System Inspires You More.

Regina Caeli Specialist Hospital and Maternity was established in 1981 by the late Most Rev. A.K. Obiefuna, the then catholic bishop of Awka diocese who later became emeritus Arch bishop of Onitsha. The hospital became operational on the 6th. day of November, 1981 after being commissioned by the then commissioner of health in Anambra State. The hospital initially started as a maternity but overtime transformed into a full-fledged hospital and was later elevated to a specialist hospital in 2014 under the administration of Rev. Fr. Patrick Onuegbu, who happened to be the first administrator of the hospital under the title “manager”. He also acquired its certificate of incorporation and an RC number. The current manager of the hospital is Rev. Fr. Innocent Affusim who assumed office on 22nd. October, 2022 and has continued to champion the non-stop innovations and development seen in the hospital today. With the vast development going on in the hospital, there came the vision to establish another college of nursing sciences by Awka Diocesan Catholic Bishop; Most Rev. Paulinus Chukwuemeka Ezeokafor to meet the increasing demand for Nursing education hence the birth of Regina Caeli College of Nursing Science, Awka. A twelve -man committee was set up immediately by the bishop under the chairmanship of Awka Diocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Charles Ndubisi with the mandate of helping the Diocese realise the dream of having Regina Caeli College of Nursing Sciences, Awka. The committee had her first meeting on Monday, 25th. March, 2024 where assignments regarding the task at hand were shared and everybody swung into action. Series of letter of intent were sent to Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria informing her of our intension to establish a world-class College of Nursing at Awka. Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria having been certified with the documents submitted to her by the management of the proposed Regina Caeli College of Nursing Sciences sent a three-man team of Anambra State Nursing and Midwifery Committee members comprised of Director of Nursing Services, Anambra State; Mrs. Ebele Dike, Provost, College of Nursing Sciences, Iyienu Ogidi; Mrs. Nduka, Josephine and Provost, College of Nursing Sciences, St. Charles Borromeo Specialist Hospital; Mrs. Theresa Ita. The team paid an advisory visit to the proposed College on Wednesday, 29th. January, 2025 and were amazed with the extent of resources put in place in actualization of the dream of establishing the college. The advisory visit was a successful one as we are today receiving a team of assessors from Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
